The drive from Moab to California is a study in geology. The topography changes dramatically from the craggy, red scenery near Arches National Park becoming less craggy (is that a word?)….

to less craggy, paler mountains just a few miles down the road and the stark, nearly white desert of Nevada….



The photo above is of what is called “an intermittant lake” and the photo below shows one that still has a bit of water!

Almost immediately after seeing the “welcome to California” signs, the scenery changes to trees and more trees, and steeper and steeper mountains again.

And that’s not all that changes once you get to California:-). Photo below on left — Utah. Photo on right — Sacramento, CA.
